What is a Trough type Compost Turner?

A trough type compost turner, also known as a trough-type compost turning machine, is a core piece of specialized equipment in the aerobic fermentation process of organic waste. It is mainly used for the fermentation, composting, and harmless treatment of materials such as livestock and poultry manure, municipal sludge, straw, and kitchen waste. It is a key piece of equipment for modern organic fertilizer plants and environmental treatment stations to achieve large-scale production, and a significant driver in transforming organic waste into valuable resources.

Structurally and in terms of working principle, the trough type compost turner adopts a design combining track-mounted walking and rotary turning, relying on a pre-cast concrete fermentation trough for operation. The main body of the equipment is mounted on a track at the top of the trough, driven longitudinally by a walking motor. The high-strength teeth on the turning rollers can penetrate 1.2-2.5 meters into the material layer and rotate at high speed, turning the oxygen-deficient, low-temperature material at the bottom of the trough to the surface, and pressing the high-temperature material on the surface into the bottom layer, achieving uniform mixing and breaking up clumps, providing sufficient oxygen for aerobic microbial fermentation.

Compared to traditional turning methods, the trough type compost turner has significant advantages. It boasts a high degree of automation, equipped with a PLC control system that allows for preset turning frequencies and strokes. One-button start significantly reduces manual labor. Fermentation is thorough and complete, maintaining a stable pile temperature of 55-65℃, effectively killing pathogens and insect eggs, and shortening the composting cycle to 15-20 days. The enclosed tank operation minimizes odor and dust dispersion, meeting environmental emission standards. Its strong adaptability allows for multi-tank operation with a transfer machine, meeting varying processing scale requirements.

Its applications are wide-ranging, covering large-scale organic fertilizer production, municipal sludge treatment, large-scale livestock manure treatment, and organic waste resource utilization. It is particularly suitable for large-scale production with fixed sites and concentrated batches. As a mainstream equipment for the resource utilization of organic waste, it not only solves the problem of waste pollution but also transforms it into high-quality organic fertilizer, contributing to the development of ecological agriculture and the implementation of a circular economy.
